The number of programming points

Beginner

The essentials

VR limits the number of orders you can program in advance. This limit depends on your options in VR, not on the eSail4VR subscription:

Your status in VRProgramming points
No Full Pack, no VIP2
Full Pack without VIP9
VIP15

The same limit applies to orders (“Wind” and “Compass” modes) and to waypoints. eSail4VR reads it from the game data and never builds more points than your limit.

Consequence: with few points, the programming covers only part of the route. After the last point, the boat keeps the last order; you must send a new routing before you reach it.

Going further

What the editor does with the limit. It keeps the orders that really change the route: those where the angle or heading varies by more than the “Skip orders tolerance” (see The skip tolerance), those where the boat changes tack, those where the order type changes. The extra rows stay off. In “Waypoints” mode, the list is cut to the number of waypoints allowed, keeping those needed to get around land, ice and exclusion zones.

The first order. The order that takes effect immediately does not count as a programming within the limit: in “Wind” or “Compass” mode, the editor sends this first order and then up to 2, 9 or 15 programmings.

“Pay per play” races. On races where all players have the same boat and options, the limit comes from the race itself (“prog” and “waypoints” fields of the race data), not from your options. If the race gives none, the application assumes 15.

Gaining duration. To stretch the programming over time with few points, increase the tolerance, or use waypoints: the boat then sails from point to point.

If you only have 2 points although you have eSail4VR Premium. The eSail4VR subscription gives no points in VR: the limit is that of your VR options. See the FAQ.
