Checks before sending
ExpertThe essentials
Before letting orders go, the editor sails them in simulation and checks that the boat will not end up stopped by land, ice or an exclusion zone. If there is a problem, the “Send” button stays greyed out and the summary at the top of the window explains why.
- “Wind” or “Compass” orders (and “Auto” when it uses them): sending is blocked if the boat would be stopped within the next 12 hours, before the last order. Beyond 12 hours, it is only a warning.
- “Waypoints”: sending is blocked if a leg crosses land, ice or an exclusion zone.
- “Manual”: a simple warning, you draw your own route.
Going further
The summary messages.
- “Checking the orders…”: the simulation is running. It has 20 seconds; beyond that, “The check of the orders did not come back: send again”.
- “The boat would be stopped by land, ice or an exclusion zone around …”: a stop during the orders, sending refused if it is within 12 hours.
- “Before the first order takes effect, the boat would be stopped…”: the boat would be stopped even before the first order takes effect.
- “Holding the last order, the boat would be stopped…”: after the last order, the boat holds its heading; this is said but not refused.
- “In more than 12 h, the boat would be stopped…”: a warning, sending allowed.
- “Sending is blocked: a leg (→WP1, WP2-WP3) crosses land, ice or an exclusion zone”: the faulty legs are named, “→WP1” being the leg from the boat to the first waypoint.
- “The boat does not reach the last waypoint”.
- “No preview: the boat is away from the start of the route”: the boat has moved too far since the calculation; run a new routing.
How to clear a block. Switch to “Auto” or “Waypoints”, add waypoints to get around the obstacle, or run a new routing with “Avoid VR and own zones” (see Zones).
Waypoints already passed. The first waypoints the boat will have passed when the orders take effect are not sent: a waypoint behind the boat, passed on its leg, or less than two minutes of sailing away. It is still kept if the leg from the boat to the next waypoint crosses an obstacle.
If all the waypoints are passed. Nothing is sent: an empty list would reset the game’s waypoint counter.
A programming already past. If the routing was looked at longer than planned, a programmed order whose time has already passed when sending leaves at once in place of the first one, and the earlier ones are dropped: the game would not apply them.
