Account and devices
BeginnerThe essentials
The subscription is tied to the e-mail address of the Virtual Regatta account you are logged in with in the app. Log in with the same account on another device: the app asks the server and finds the validity. A subscription bought on an iPhone therefore also applies to the Android tablet, the Mac or the Windows PC, as the subscription window states.
If you took the subscription with SailGrib4VR or Weather4VR and it disappeared from eSail4VR, launch the other app once with the same account to synchronise the subscription again. Our FAQ then advises to stop the subscription of the other product and to take one for eSail4VR when it expires, so you do not pay twice.
Going further
How the app decides. It keeps two end dates: the one of the subscription bought for eSail4VR and a “shared” date received from the server. It uses the later one. If it is in the future, the “Validity” line shows “Up to” and the date.
Validity that disappears at once. At startup the answer of the server can be late. If your subscription was seen valid in the last 24 hours with the same e-mail, the app does not take Premium away at once: it checks again one minute, then five minutes later, before concluding.
The cloud. The “eSail4VR cloud” switch (Settings) is only active with a valid subscription. It shares the routings and the zones you created between your devices, through your account. The device that changed warns the others, which fetch the list.
Premium valid but sending impossible. Two things to check: the subscription window shows a validity; the race allows it (some races restrict sending: when you touch the send button, the app then shows “The race organiser has restricted sending orders from eSail4VR for this race.”). Expert mode is not needed to send: without it, the send button asks “Please confirm the programming of the routing on the VR servers” and then sends the orders; with it (the “Expert mode” switch in Settings > Routing), it opens the order editor.
Changing the Virtual Regatta account changes the e-mail address used: the validity is looked up for the new address.
